EV charging infrastructure for HGV depots

Specialist electric HGV charging infrastructure for UK fleet and logistics operators. High-capacity grid connections, HV and LV installation, heavy-duty civils, and MCS-ready infrastructure, delivered as one scope

Built for the demands of HGV depot charging

Electrifying HGV fleets is one of the biggest infrastructure challenges in the UK’s transition to net zero. Electric trucks place far greater demands on power, space, and site design. HGV depots must accommodate heavy vehicle movements, extreme electrical loads, and future charging standards, while remaining fully operational.

ADDCharge delivers electric truck charging infrastructure across the UK, providing the electrical, civil, and structural works needed to support eHGV operations today and scale confidently for tomorrow. With no downtime windows to work around, planning is everything. We deliver every discipline so works stay coordinated, on programme, and out of your operation’s way.

How ADDCharge delivers eHGV depot electrification

Grid connections

High-capacity connections for HGV depots, sized for simultaneous charging of multiple electric trucks.

HV and LV installation

HV networks, transformers, and substations sized for fleet charging. LV distribution serving multiple high-power chargers. Delivered to DNO, IDNO, and ENA standards.

Civil engineering

Heavy-duty, load-bearing hardstanding for trucks and trailers. Reinforced concrete foundations, trenching, and ducting designed for high-power cabling.

CASE STUDY

Major UK bus operator, delivered via Zenobe

ADDCharge delivered a 16-charge-point electric HGV charging installation at FSEW Cardiff, integrating high-power electrical infrastructure with coordinated civil works to support heavy vehicle operations on a live logistics site.

Civil engineering built for heavy vehicles

HGV electrification places significant demands on civil engineering. Charger locations, cable routes, and electrical plant must be designed around vehicle weights, axle loads, turning circles, and operational flow.

We regularly work in constrained logistics environments where access is tight and uptime is critical, carefully sequencing works to maintain vehicle movements and depot productivity.

Preparing for megawatt charging

The next phase of electric HGV deployment will be driven by the Megawatt Charging System (MCS), enabling charging at power levels far beyond current rapid chargers.

ADDCharge is actively planning and delivering MCS-ready infrastructure, including substations and transformers sized for future megawatt loads, cable routes and ducting designed for larger conductors, foundations and layouts that accommodate MCS charger footprints, and network designs that allow upgrade without major rework.

Even where MCS chargers are not yet installed, ADDCharge ensures today’s infrastructure will not limit tomorrow’s charging capability.

Project credentials

ADDCharge has delivered electric HGV charging infrastructure for fleet and commercial operators across the UK. Our experience across HGV, bus, and commercial fleets means we understand how large depots function and how to electrify them without disruption.
